Alexander Malofeev, piano
‘The latest phenomenon of the Russian piano school’ (Corriere della Sera), “Alexander Malofeev expresses in himself the piano mastery of the new millennium” (Il Giornale). The young ‘Russian genius’ (Corriere della Sera) made a name for himself on the international scene when, in 2014, he won the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians at the age of thirteen. ‘Contrary to what one might expect from a youngster [...], he demonstrated not only great technical precision but also incredible maturity. Crystalline sounds and perfect balance revealed his exceptional abilities’ (Amadeus). Malofeev has rapidly established himself as one of the leading pianists of his generation.

Maestro Riccardo Chailly said of the pianist: ‘I heard Malofeev for the first time when Valery Gergiev performed with him at the Teatro alla Scala three years ago. He was only 14 years old, and I was astounded by his talent. Because he's not a child prodigy: he's very young, but he already has depth and technical ability, as well as musical and memory ability, which makes him an excellent interpreter of Rachmaninov's 3rd concerto, which is a problem for many pianists around the world’. (Corriere della Sera, October 2019).
