Beethoven by three inspiring artists
After triumphing in the 2024 women-only conducting competition, ‘La Maestra’, Bar Avni will make her debut at the Colmar International Festival with an all-Beethoven programme: the impressive Egmont Overture, which the great deaf composer wrote in 1810 as incidental music for Goethe's eponymous drama, and the sumptuous Piano Concerto No. 4, here performed on the keyboard by a regular at our Festival, where she made her debut a few years ago: the dazzling Alexandra Dovgan.
For Symphony No. 8, undoubtedly Beethoven's most luminous, serene – and, in a word, ‘classical’ – Claire Gibault, creator of ‘La Maestra’, will be conducting.
