Maja Avramovic, Violin
Still very young, Maja Avramović revealed uncommon musical gifts. At the age of two, she was already playing the melodies her mother had taught her on the piano. Her mother wanted her daughter to play a different instrument from her own, so she learnt the violin. Her school years were spent in a boarding school where music teaching was given priority. After moving to Germany, she studied with Igor Ozim and later became the first recipient of a scholarship from the Ivo Pogorelich Foundation. She then went on to perfect her skills with Hermann Krebbers in Amsterdam. After playing in various orchestras, she joined the Berliner Philharmoniker in 1994.
In addition to her work with the orchestra, she frequently plays chamber music, for example every summer at the Salon-de-Provence Chamber Music Festival.
