Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra,
The Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra (MSO), with its sixty or so permanent musicians, has been an integral part of Alsace's cultural life since 1867. Based at La Filature in Mulhouse, it is distinguished by the flexibility of its unique membership. Exploring a wide repertoire, from the baroque to the contemporary, in small or large numbers, the Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra also excels in the lyrical and choreographic repertoire since, along with the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, it is the orchestra associated with the National Rhine Opera.
Wishing to remain close to all audiences, the Orchestra offers original performances such as the diVin tasting concerts, which combine wine and music, film-concerts, Family concerts specially adapted to young audiences...
Sharing and transmission are at the heart of the Orchestra's mission. Every year, nearly 15,000 young people - from nursery school to high school - discover music thanks to the many activities carried out.
The orchestra invites conductors and soloists of international renown to work and perform with it and develops closer ties with some of them, as is the case for the 2022-2023 season with cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière and composer Fabien Cali, associate artists.
The Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra is more determined than ever to pursue excellence and ambition, to develop an ever more active and open policy, with the prospect of obtaining the "National Regional Orchestra" label, awarded by the State. Christoph Koncz, Music Director from the 2023-24 season, will accompany the Orchestra in this ambition.
