Duo Nemtanu,
Sarah and Deborah Nemtanu are an obvious pair. Their perfect knowledge and understanding of each other, as well as their immense complicity, make their encounter a unique and magical moment. Spontaneity, naturalness and joie de vivre are the watchwords of their musical philosophy. What's more, their differences enrich their interpretations, with Déborah's purity and precision matching Sarah's passion and intensity.
Ever since they were young, they have been tackling a repertoire that is both intimate and virtuosic for the 'two violins'. It's a repertoire that continues to evolve and be enriched by works by contemporary composers such as Eric Tanguy, Philippe Hersant, Benoît Menut and Edith Lejet.
Once they had established their own careers, they decided to record their first Bach/Schnittke album, released in 2014. In 2016, the release of their second album, devoted to Bartok duets, opened up unexpected horizons for them, such as sharing the stage at the Grand Rex with Iggy Pop! Critically acclaimed, the major labels were quick to offer them new projects. Their third album, which they shared with the Kodama sisters, was devoted to the composer Martinu and was released on the Pentatone label, with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Marseille conducted by Lawrence Foster.
Déborah's attraction to the warm timbre of the viola has also opened up the great repertoire of the violin and viola duo.
