French Impressions: Zeliha Trio
The result of the artistic collaboration between violinist Manon Galy, cellist Maxime Quennesson and pianist Jorge González Buajasán, the Zeliha Trio was formed in 2018.
Partners on stage, Jorge and Manon won first prize and all the special prizes at the Lyon International Chamber Music Competition in 2021!
The trio is currently perfecting its art at the Queen Elisabeth Royal Chapel in Waterloo and is in residence at the Singer-Polignac Foundation. Manon Galy was also crowned Instrumental Soloist Revelation at the Victoires de la Musique Classique in 2022.
As united as they are virtuosic, this trio offers us a programme of French music with a vibrant and engaging interpretation of the trios by Fauré and Ravel.
Composed at the very end of Fauré's life, Opus 120 displays a luminous poetry, where the melodic momentum blends with a gentleness that is almost reconciled with the world.
In contrast, Ravel's Trio, written in the midst of the tensions of 1914, asserts a lively energy, shimmering colours and bold architecture – from the rhythmic play of the Pantoum to the solemn Passacaglia, right up to the final flourish.
Program
Gabriel Fauré: Trio for piano, violin and cello in D minor, Op. 120
