Akilone, female quartet
The Akilone Quartet, composed of four exceptional musicians, is a particularly promising young ensemble and one of the emerging quartets not to be missed this summer in Colmar.
The four musicians of the Akilone Quartet have chosen to juxtapose two contrasting works: Beethoven’s famous “Harp” Quartet and Fanny Mendelssohn’s all too rarely performed Quartet in E flat major, H. 277, which reveals a personality as assertive as it is unique. Long overshadowed by her brother, Fanny displays an energy and a freedom of tone that engage with Beethoven in a dialogue full of life, contrasts and sensitivity.
A juxtaposition in the form of a conversation full of life and sensitivity.
