
Gatien Leray, Viola
Gatien Leray is currently studying for a Diploma in Performing Arts at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris (CNSMDP).
At the age of 17, he joined the viola class of Miguel da Silva at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève.
In 2022, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, he joined the International Menuhin Music Academy in Rolle, Switzerland, and studied with Gérard Caussé and Ivan Vukcevic.
He continued his studies at these two institutions and in June 2024, he obtained a Master's degree in Specialised Musical Performance as a Soloist from the HEM in Geneva, awarded the special Albert Lullin prize.
Passionate about the solo and chamber music repertoires, Gatien participates in various academies and benefits from the advice of Tabea Zimmermann, Lars Anders Tomter, Lawrence Power, Nobuko Imai, Jean Sulem, etc. In chamber music, Gatien has worked with violinist and conductor Gabor Takacs-Nagy, the cellist Valentin Erben and the violist Bruno Giuranna. He is invited to festivals such as the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, the Rencontres Internationales d'Evian, the Pablo Casals Festival, sharing the stage with renowned musicians such as Renaud Capuçon, Gérard Caussé, Clemens Hagen, Daishin Kashimoto, etc.
As guest artist of the 77th Geneva Competition for the flute semi-final - chamber music, he had the pleasure of performing Le Chant de Linos by the composer André Jolivet. Gatien is a Hirschmann scholarship winner and semi-finalist of the Oskar Nedbal International Viola Competition in Prague.
