Georgi Anichenko, cello
Born in 1985, Georgi Anichenko began his cello studies at the age of 5 at the Musical College in Minsk (Belarus) with Vladimir Perline. At the age of 8, he performed for the first time with the orchestra during a tour of Europe with the Minsk College Orchestra.
In 1996 Georgi won 1st Prize at the International Competition for Young Performers in Moscow, and a year later the Virtuosity Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Junior Competition in St Petersburg.
In 1998, he performed as a soloist in Paris (Salle Cortot, Auditorium des Halles).
The same year, he toured the United Kingdom, where he performed as soloist with the Minsk College Orchestra.
At the age of 14, Georgi received a scholarship from Vladimir Spivakov, who then invited him to take part in Master Classes in Switzerland with E. Finke, then to give a recital at the Colmar Festival.
In 2000 he was appointed first prizewinner at the Paris Conservatoire in Philippe Müller's class. He received a scholarship from the French government for three years.
In 2003 Georgi was awarded scholarships from the Tarazzi Foundation, Paris and the Meyer Foundation, Paris, and has since given numerous recitals and chamber music concerts in France and abroad.
In summer 2003, he was awarded Second Prize at the Lions Clubs International Competition in Nantes.
In June 2004, he was awarded his Prix at the CNSM with unanimous distinction.
In November 2004 Georgi won the Young Concert Artists European Audition in Paris, and in January 2005 he won the Young Concert Artists Audition in New York, USA.
During the 2004-2005 season, he performed at the Théâtre Mogador in Paris, the Palais des Congres in Lille, the Rencontres Musicales en Artois, the Flagey studio in Brussels and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
In the 2006-2007 season Georgi was invited as solo cellist with the ‘Orchestre de la Comunitat Valenciana’ in Valencia, Spain, where he played under the baton of Maestro Lorin Maazel, Maestro Zubin Mehta, etc.
